Free Open Source SW

Italo Vignoli has been active in the free and open source software area since 2004, when he joined the OpenOffice community based on his hi-tech communication experience. Within the OpenOffice project, he worked on marketing, PR and media relations in Italy and internationally.

From early 2010, he has been involved in the LibreOffice project, coordinating marketing and PR. Since 2014, he has been working for The Document Foundation, expanding the scope of his responsibilities to the organization of events and the support of local communities.

In 2016, he has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Open Source Initiative (OSI), one of the two leading organizations in the world of free and open source software, where he deals with communication and organizations affiliated with OSI. As part of the activities related to the latter role, he represents OSI in the KDE Advisory Board.

As a consultant, Italo Vignoli contributed to the definition of communication strategies for various open source projects, and has organized workshops for the definition of the business model and the selection of the open source license for companies that have not yet entered the market.2
